This brand rosin is made by Sebastian-August Deroux who is a famous violin maker in france.
Sebastian-August Deroux,born in 1848 and dead in 1919,He moved to Mirecourt in France and started to make rosin named “Colophane Deroux”.
Blanche is S.A. Deroux’s only daughter.Her sons Roger and Max are violin maker as their grandfather,they taked over control S.A. Deroux’s cause.
Roger and Max maked the quality of rosin better in 1925,including augmented adhesive power of bow hair and decreased poeder of rosin. They labeled “Deroux” the rosin,then the brand evolved “Colophane Millant-Deroux”. In addition,they use “CAT” as label in the packing of cello rosin.
In 1950s,the brand had a Nickname “CAT” denominated by USA and Japan customers.
