Giovanni Colonna was born near Venice.
He comes from a family of musicians and so he started playing piano first and double bass later attending the Conservatory of Venice.
Thanks to his talent proved by attending the Waldrof’s schools, he decided to stop his studies to move to Cremona to attend to the International School of Violinmaking. He got his diploma under the guide of M° Bissolotti. In the following years, he decided to work in several cremonese workshops and to attend many masters to improve himself.
He has opened his own workshop in Corso Matteotti 11, in Cremona where he repairs and make instruments of the classical quartet following the ancient Cremonese tradition. His instruments are made on his personal interpretation of Cremona and Venice’s classical models and copies from M° Ornati, Garimberti, Poggi and Pollastris.
