Aristide Cavalli (1856-1931)

was born in Alessandria in 1856 and was a pupil of Beltrani. This influence is certainly displayed in his work, although his violins also retain a fair degree of originality. He was based in Cremona between 1880 and 1930 where he produced violins which are widely regarded as being of excellent quality.

This particular example dates from towards the end of his career, having been made in 1927.
